Yas Marina Abu Dhabi Circuit also known as The Yas Marina Circuit is the venue for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix (Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Pix, the circuit is also the UAE most epic motorsports venue.

Yas Marina Abu Dhabi Circuit has hosted the Formula 1 Etihad Airways Abu Dhabi Grand Pix since 2009, the circuit is known worldwide for being a great track for racing action and a better track for motorsport fans as they get incredible views of on track dramas and overtakes from five main stands.

This circuit is one of the most expensive circuits every built at $ 250 million, this high price is partly due to the circuit’s unique location on the artificial Yas Island next to the striking W Abu Dhabi – Yas Island and the Ferrari World theme park – recognizable by its red roof with the famous Ferrari logo on it.

Yas Marina Abu Circuit is also called the Arab Monaco due to its location at various marina, the circuit is not only built around the Yas Viceroy hotel, one of the curves of the circuit even goes under the hotel which provides spectacular images during the TV broadcasts.

The circuit was designed by the famous Circuit design Hermann Tilke, the circuit has a total of 20 bends.

The Yas Marina Circuit is situated on the Yas Island near Abu Dhabi – the capital of the United Arab Emirates, Yas Marina was the second of the four Formula one tracks in the Middle East with the first being in Bahrain and subsequent tracks in Qatar and Saudi Arabia. To officially open the circuit, a two – day GP2 Asia Series test was held a week before the 2009 Abu Dhabi Grand Pix.

The circuit also hosted the opening event for the Australian V8 Supercars series, the Yas V8 400 in February 2010, the circuit was also used for the final stage of the inaugural Abu Dhabi Tour cycle race in 2015.

Yas Marina Abu Dhabi Circuit has an FIA Grade 1 license.

Design of the Yas Marina Abu Dhabi Circuit

The circuit is located on Yas Island, a headland that was cut off from the mainland by a canal, it has sixteen corners and several straights and passes by the marina and through the Yas Hotel Abu Dhabi designed by New York – based architects Hani Rashidi and Lise Ane Couture of Asymptote Architecture with a façade lighting design by Rogier Van der Heide.

Yas Marina Circuit has five grandstand areas that are Main Grandstand, West Grandstand, North Grandstand, South Grandstand, and Marina Grandstand. Part of its pit lane exit runs underneath the track, it also houses a team building behind the pit building, Media Center, Dragster Track and VIP Tower.

Additionally, one of the run-off areas runs underneath the west grandstand. The turns 4, 5 and 6 were redesigned and the previous turns 11. 12 and 13 were also reconfigured in time for the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Visiting the Yas Marina Circuit

Visiting the Yas Marina Circuit is must for motorsport and enthusiasts, on the visit you get a tour on the circuit where Formula 1 is a guest every year in November, get a look in the pix boxes and in the race control room, take a picture on the podium. You can also take a look at one of the covered stands and pay a visit to the Yas Drag Racing Strip.

Near the Yas Marina Circuit is the Yas Mall, the largest shopping center in Abu Dhabi which you can visit.
