For the Uganda visa upon the arrival application is required in advance. The visa can be paid directly in cash.
All persons (travelers) must apply in their own right individually with acceptable travel documents valid not less than 6 months from the date of intended travel.
For Kenya one can access it online and apply via the portal www.ecitizen .go.ke and a present copy of e- Visa upon at the immigration at the port entry. This print of e-Visa is downloaded from the eCitizen account
For Rwanda visas are applied online via Rwanda immigration website. Kindly note that the countries that were exempted from paying visa fees are no longer exempted and therefore they are required to pay but allowed to obtain their visa upon the arrival at Kigali international airport. The affected countries include; Germany, Israel, New Zealand, Australia, Germany, United Kingdom(UK), Sweden, South Africa and the United States of America (USA).
The east Africa tourist visa allows you to travel through Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda to tour and crossing the boarders freely without applying for another visa or paying visa fee. The visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issue and also valid for only the mentioned three countries.
- One clear colored passport size photo with white background recently taken without glasses, caps and scurf; (the photo should be attached to the application form by use of glue stick. Stapling and clipping the photo to the application form is not advisable).
- A complete filled application form.
- Visa application letter addressed to the issuing authority of the concerned country.
- Flight bookings
- Proof of financial sustainability during the travel period.
- Any other documentation that may be requested for purposes of processing the visa application.
Visa fees: the tourist visa comes at a cost of 100 USD
Visa extension: Visa shall not be extended
Multi entry/ single entry: the visa is a single entry visa but multiple entry within the partner states only. It elapses when out moves out of the partner states
Work or No work: Work is not permitted
Eligibility: tourists and no restrictions on country or origin.
Travel Documents: All tourists must have an official and genuine international passport, valid for not less than 6 months from the time of visa application.
Country of Entry: The holder of the East Africa Tourist Visa shall enter the region from the country that issued the visa and move within the two other countries without applying for another visa or paying another visa fee.
Movement of persons: The holder shall also be allowed to move out of the Republic of Kenya, the Republic of Rwanda, and the Republic of Uganda and return without having to pay for another visa. This will only be applicable for the validity period of the visa (90 days from visa approval).
Expatriates or foreign nationals
Foreign residents from Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda are allowed to go to these different mentioned countries without a visa. They are given an inter-state pass which allows them to travel to these countries valid for 6 months. They also must have a valid work permit or valid resident permit.
East Africa nationals
Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda residents use their national identity cards to travel to any of the three countries. This enables these nationals to stay in a different country for 6 months and it was passed on 1st January 2014.
Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda student nationals are also allowed to go to these different mentioned countries using their identity cards
