Day 1: Arrival in Entebbe
Upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our birding guide and transfer you to your hotel in Entebbe. Your birder will brief you about the itinerary and bird species to expect.
Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy birding around the hotel gardens for sighting of several bird species like Black-headed Gonolek, African Grey Parrot, and Yellow-backed Weaver among others.

Day 2: Mabamba Swamp Birding Expedition
After our early morning breakfast, meet your guide and drive to Mabamba Swamp a key birding site situated west of Entebbe. Begin your birding excursion on a traditional canoe, gliding through the labyrinth of papyrus channels. The swamp is home to the pre-historic shoebill, the most sought after bird among other wetland species. Some of the birds to lookout for include Shoebill, Malachite Kingfisher, Papyrus Gonolek, African Jacana, Squacco Heron, and Purple Swamphen among othes.
After the canoe ride, explore the nearby grasslands for additional bird sighting. Later in the day you will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, depart for Murchison Falls National Park – the largest protected area in = with stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a rhino tracking experience combined with birding. Spot several bird species like the Grey Crowned Crane and Abyssinian Ground Hornbill thriving in this savannah-woodland ecosystem.
Enjoy en-route lunch and continue to Murchison Falls National Park. Enjoy an evening relaxation at the lodge, with a chance to do birding around the property. Today’s birding experience promises sights of several bird species including White-crested Turaco, Marabou Stork, Northern Red Bishop, and Red Headed weaver.

Day 4: Birding in Murchison Falls National Park
Start your day with an early morning game drive on the northern bank of the Nile, the savannah plains offer opportunities to spot both mammals and birds. Keep your eye out on savannah birds like the black-billed Barbet, Denham’s Bustard, and Red-throated Bee eater. After lunch, embark on a boat cruise along the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls. Lookout for aquatic birds along the riverbanks and enjoying a brief hike to the top of the falls for spectacular views.
Today’s birding highlights include Goliath Heron, African Fish Eagle, Rock Pratincole, Pied Kingfisher, and African Skimmer among others.

Day 5: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, depart Murchison Falls National Park and embark on a scenic drive to Kibale Forest National Park passing through small towns, lush countryside and tea plantations. En-route, stop for briefing at selected forest reserves and wetlands.
Arrive at Kibale in the evening and settle into your lodge.
Today’s birding highlights include Toro Olive Greenbul, White-spotted Flufftail, and African Emerald Cuckoo.

Day 6: Birding in Kibale Forest National Park
Start the day with an early breakfast before heading into Kibale Forest for a full day of birding. Kibale Forest is renowned for is dense bird population and is home to over 375 bird species, the rare Green-breasted Pitta is a major highlight for today’s birding experience.
Explore forest trails while listening to the melodies of forest birds and spotting several primate species including the red colobus monkeys. Return to the lodge for lunch, in the afternoon return to the park for another birding experience. Afternoon birding focuses on forest edges and grasslands.
Today’s birding highlights include Green-breasted Pitta, Yellow-billed Barbet, Black Bee-eater, Scaly-breasted Illadopsis, and Grey-headed Nigrita.

Day 7: Bigodi Wetland and Departure
After breakfast, go for a morning birding walk at Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary, a haven for wetland and forest species. Keep an eye out for the Papyrus Canary, White-winged Warbler, and Snowy-headed Robin-Chat. Return to the lodge for lunch before beginning your journey back to Entebbe International Airport for your evening flight, bringing your Uganda Birding Safari to an end.
