Day 1: Drive to Masai Mara Game Reserve

Your Kenya photography Safari begins in the morning at 7 am with a drive from Nairobi to Masai Mara National Reserve. Along the way, you will have a brief stop in Mai Mahiu to view and capture the stunning Great Rift Valley and its escarpments.

Proceed to Masai Mara and drive directly to your lodge located inside the reserve, check in and enjoy your meals. In the afternoon, you will embark on your first photographic tour of the reserve. Keep your camera out to capture the wonders of this iconic reserve. After capturing the stunning views of the endless plains of Masai Mara at sunset, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2 to 4: Exploring Masai Mara and experiencing diverse photographic opportunities

Spend these 3 full days exploring the endless plains of Masai Mara with picnic lunch and a hot air balloon safari. Each day starts early with a cup of tea or coffee and head to the reserve’s endless plains for an early morning game drive, this is the perfect time to capture the sunrise hues reflecting on savannah plains of Masai Mara and predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs and Africa wild dogs as they return from their hunting sprees in the night.

Hot Air Balloon Safari

A hot air balloon safari in Masai Mara is the best way to discover the magic of the reserve, witness the stunning landscapes and wildlife from the sky. The balloon ride offers opportunities of capturing the Masai Mara plains and the reserve from above.

The balloon experience starts early in the morning between 4:00 – 5:00 am, as your guide takes you to the balloon launch pad, you will begin to feel the anticipation grown. As you enjoy your cup of tea, the balloon crew will inflate your balloon and prepare everything for take-off. Once the balloon is filled and have climbed into the basket beneath it, your pilot will give you a short briefing before setting the balloon into motion. The Maasi are undoubtedly one of the most famous traditional cultures on earth. Their manyattas are usually a circular encampment of long, low, rounded houses, created by daubing cattle dung over a framework of sticks. On your visit, you will witness and capture several ceremonies involving the ritual slaughter of cattle or goats with meat being distributed among the community, according to social rank. Sometimes, live cattle are blend by opening a vein on the neck or flank with the point of an arrow. The blood is collected in a gourd and the wound closed with ashes. Then the blood is either drunk immediately while fresh or mixed with mil. Even at slaughter, blood is collected and mixed with milk to be drink later. Sour milk is considered a delicacy and as a visitor you can try it.
