Detailed itinerary for the 5 Days Masai Mara and Bwindi safari

Day 1: Pick up from hotel in Nairobi/airport and transfer to Masai Mara

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will meet your safari driver guide and after a short briefing about what to expect on the safari, you will transfer to Masai Mara national reserve the most popular and rewarding wildlife safari destination in Kenya.

From Nairobi to Masai Mara national reserve it is a drive of about 4-5 hours through the Great Rift Valley region and stopover in Narok Town (The Maasai largest town) for shopping and interaction with the local people and purchasing of craft items.

When you arrive in the reserve, you will have en-route game drive as you head to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon you go for a game drive in search for wildlife in the wilderness of the reserve, some of the animals you should lookout for include lions, cheetahs, leopards, African wild dogs, elephants, cape buffaloes, gazelles, giraffes, hippos, hyenas, wildebeests, jackals among others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning and afternoon game drives

Enjoy a healthy Africa breakfast, meet your safari- driver guide and transfer to the endless savannah plains of Masai Mara national reserve for a morning game drive, during the game drive you will spot various species of wildlife including elephants, giraffes, hippos, wildebeests, jackals, cheetahs, lions leopards and many birds among others.

You will drive back to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will return to the reserve for another encounter in the wilderness looking for the African Big Five and other animals. Also, you can opt for a local community visit for an experience with the Maasai people getting a deeper insight in the local lifestyle of the Masai people.

Day 3: fly to Entebbe International airport and fly to Bwindi

Wake up early for breakfast, checkout of the lodge and be transferred to the airstrip for your flight to Entebbe, upon landing at Entebbe International airport you will board your flight to Bwindi impenetrable national park.

Upon landing at Kisoro airstrip or Kihihi airstrip, you will be picked up by our safari driver guide and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park. You will be welcomed to the park by amazing views of the verdant jungle and expect the temperatures to change with much cold fresh breeze of the rainforests. You will have an evening of relaxing, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 4: Gorilla tracking

Wake up early for breakfast and transfer to the park’s headquarters where you will meet other trekkers for a briefing session starting at 7:45 am, the briefing is about the rules and regulations to follow during the experience and when you come face to face with mountain gorillas in the dense forests of Bwindi. You will also be grouped into 8 people, be assigned a gorilla group to trek and then be trek into the forests looking for mountain gorillas.

When you locate the gorillas that is with the help of a ranger guide, you watch the youngster showing off and huge silverbacks may beat their chests which is a spectacular sight to see. You are also allowed to take pictures as long as your flashlight is off.

On this most memorable safari experience in the world, you will also be able to see numerous bird species such as kingfisher, blue breasted kingfisher among others. After tracking you will return to the lodge for an evening of relaxation. You can choose to go for an evening community walk visiting some community projects such as schools, orphanages and others. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to back to Entebbe and departure

Wake up very early for breakfast and then transfer to Entebbe for your departure flight, along the way you will have a brief stopover in Mbarara for lunch and at the equator for pictures then proceed to Entebbe International airport where you will catch your flight back home.
