4 Days West Nile and Murchison Falls Tour: West Nile is an area covering districts of Nebbi, Pakwach, Amuru, Arua, Elegu, Yumbe, Moyo, Adjumani etcetera, this is part of the country borders South Sudan in the North and DR Congo in the west and Acoli land in the East, it is a major outlet to South Sudan. West Nile is naturally endowed with a variety of wild game gazetted within Murchison Falls, Amuru Hotsprings and Namrwodho Falls in Nebbi, Miriadua falls in Arua as well as manmade attractions like Biku hill chapel among many unpopular others. On this tour, we will visit these sites and share with the world what this part of Uganda has to offer.

Day 1: Travel to Nebbi and visit Amuru hotsprings

This tour starts with a long trip from Kampala to Nwoya with a stop over mid way for lunch at Kabalega diners and high way photography, arrive in the evening and drive to the hot springs under the guidance of a knowledgeable local guide for an evening breeze and encounter with nature. Camp here for the night with prior arrangements or drive to Nebbi town and check into a guest house as this town is not very developed or busy. Dinner served here.

Amuru hot springs are located in present day Nwoya district that was curved out of Amuru district. The hot springs cover an area of 100 square meters and though under developed, it has a lot of tourism potential in the region.  The springs are never dried up regardless of the season.

The water is also a source of salt for the locals as well as providing nutrients for their cattle through a certain type of grass harvested from the hot springs with salt trapped in it.

Adventurous tourists can camp here and enjoy the cool breeze with views of lush green vegetation and sounds of nature with chirping birds or take a community walk to learn about the devastating experience of these people as a result of the war which broke and traumatized many families, the community is steadily recovering though the war effects are still visible here. Visit Omer Farming Company a commercial farm in the district.

Day 2: Visit Biku Hill Chapel and transfer to Murchison Falls Pakwach

After breakfast, drive to Biku hill early and take time to tour all the nine prayer points focusing on each point as guided by a local guide found here. While here, catch views of DR Congo and the beautiful Namrwodho Falls as well as the green savannah surroundings of this place.

Return to town for lunch, check out and drive to Pakwach and go for an evening game drive before checking into your lodge or hotel for the night Dinner served here.

Located on Biku hill is the smallest church in Africa 18km away from Nebbi town. It measures a width of 2.5 meters, height of 8ft and accommodates only three people thus the preacher and a congregation of two. The church is not named but it is popularly known as the ‘Chapel’. It was founded in 1996 by the retired Arch-Bishop of the church of Uganda, His lordship Orombi Henry Luke in partnership with a Korean pastor called Song. The church was discovered by two workers of the United Nations, Solomon and Miburu while driving up the Biku Hill in Nebbi town.

There is a custodian at the chapel who also acts as a guide and takes visitors through the different prayer points. There are two prayer points close by that are shaped in the form of a womb and this is where the main chapel is located and can hold up to 400 people.

Day 3: Tour Murchison Falls National Park

Wake up early for a morning game drive through the park en route the dock for a guided boat trip along the calm Victoria Nile where you see many animals and birds, the knowledgeable guide aboard tells you about the history of the place thereafter hike to the top of the falls where you will have spectacular views with water splashing on you and beautiful photography.

Your driver will be waiting for you at the top to transfer you back to the northern bank for lunch. After lunch, enjoy a slow paced game drive, film the animals at will given camera flashes are off. Later return to your lodge or hotel for evening rest and dinner.

Murchison falls national park is 20km from Amuru town. Enjoy game drives where you have opportunity to see the big five game of Africa, about 72 species of mammals and bird species, a boat cruise along the calm Victoria Nile, hike to the top of the falls and take scenic photography while here.

Day 4: Travel back to Kampala

After a lazy morning breakfast, check out of the hotel and start your journey back to Kampala with a stop over mid way for lunch. Arrival will be late afternoon.

The following policies apply to all confirmed bookings made by the client;

  1. Cancellations received within 30 -10 days’ notice to date of departure will incur 25 % charge
  2. Cancellations received within 9-2 days’ notice to date of departure will incur 50% charge
  3. Cancellations received within less than 48 hours to date of departure incur the full charge
  4. No shows without communication over the whole safari period will be charged 100%
  5. Cancellations of bookings in peak seasons (Christmas, new year and Easter) received 60 days to date of departure will incur a cancellation charge of 100%
  6. Cancellations must be advised in writing via email to the reservations or tours manager
