This 4 Days Rwanda golden monkeys and Uganda gorilla safari combined safari taking you on a safari visit to two of the best primate destinations in East Africa region that is Volcanoes national park in Rwanda where you will encounter golden monkeys and Bwindi impenetrable national park a home for mountain gorillas.
On this safari you will trek through the bamboo forests of Volcanoes national park looking for the playful golden monkeys living on the slopes of Sabinyo Volcano. From Volcanoes national park, you will cross to Uganda’s Bwindi impenetrable national park for gorilla trekking adventure.
This safari starts from Rwanda’s Kigali city at Kigali International Airport and ends in the same point.

Day 1: pick up from Kigali and transfer to Musanze, canoe ride on Mukingwa River

Detailed itinerary of 4 days Rwanda golden monkeys and Uganda gorilla safari
Day 1: pick up from Kigali and transfer to Musanze, canoe ride on Mukingwa River
You will be picked from your hotel in Kigali and transfer to Musanze in the North of Rwanda on a drive of 2 hours’ drive, check into your lodge and rest for a while as you wait for lunch.
In the afternoon, you will go for the canoe trip on River Mukungwa in Musanze, the canoe trip takes approximately 3 hours providing you with the best way to explore the lush countryside and enjoy the amazing scenery, meet the locals down the river and get an insight into their lifestyle and spot various water birds including herons and otters. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: golden monkey tracking in Volcanoes national park and transfer to Bwindi – Uganda
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the Volcanoes National Park’s headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about the dos and don’ts, then head into the forest in search the golden monkeys which inhabit in the bamboo region of Sabinyo Volcano.
When you find the golden monkeys, you will enjoy watching them play on branches, picking shoots and playing with each other, you are allowed to take as many pictures as possible and flash photography is allowed.
Note: golden monkeys are easy to find because they live in the bamboo forest in lower areas of the mountains.
After the trek, you will head back to your lodge for lunch and then transfer to Uganda head to Bwindi impenetrable national park where you will arrive in evening, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Forest – Uganda
Wake up early and head to the park’s headquarters for briefing about the dos and don’ts, in groups of 8 people you will be assigned a gorilla group to track and head into the forests of Bwindi looking for mountain gorillas. The trek takes approximately 4-6 hours depending on the gorilla family you are trekking and where it spent the previous night.
When you encounter the gorillas, you will spend one hour in their presence while watching them go on with their life. You will watch them play with each other’s, silverbacks defending their groups, female gorillas taking care of their young ones and feeding. You can take pictures, however note that flash photography is not allowed as it irritates the gorillas.
You will then head back to the park’s headquarters to pick your gorilla certificate, then head back to your lodge, you will spend the rest of the day resting or you can go for a community visit in the Batwa Community.
Day 4: transfer back to Kigali
You will have early breakfast, bid farewell to Bwindi Forest and depart back to Kigali City where you will be dropped off at the airport to catch your flight to the next destination or back home.
