2 DAYS MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK SAFARI
This 2 Day safari will take you to Uganda’s largest park known as Murchison Falls National Park, situated in Northwestern Uganda on an area of 3,840 sq km, gazetted in 1926 as a game reserve. It is characterized with Savannah grasslands and the Victoria Nile that flows through separating it into two (the northern and southern bank). Murchison Falls is home to over 451 bird species such as the Great blue Tura co, Goliath heron, the Shoebill, and the dwarf kingfisher among others, 76 mammal species, a big number of Nile crocodiles and above all the magnificent and thunderous Murchison Falls squeezing their way through a gorge that is 8m wide. All said, you will have an opportunity to enjoy both our safari game drives and the boat cruises along the Nile River.
Day 1: TRANSFER TO MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK AND EVENING GAME DRIVE
Our driver guide will pick you up from the pick-up point in Kampala to transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. You will drive through the North-west through the famous Luwero Triangle. Check in to your hotel for lunch on arrival and head for a game drive afterwards.
Accommodation: full board meal plan
Day 2: BOAT CRUISE, TOP OF THE FALLS HIKE AND TRANSFER TO KAMPALA
After breakfast, go for a morning boat cruise upstream the calm Victoria Nile to the base of the falls stopping just tens of meters from the “Devil’s Cauldron”. En-route, marvel at the toothsome hippos, crocodiles and over this 17 km stretch you may see elephants, waterbuck and the Uganda Kob. This is also a zone of many bird species like Goliath heron, Egyptian goose, pelican bee-eater, kingfisher, hornbill, cormorant and the rare shoebill stork. After the cruise, you will then proceed for a hike to the top of the falls (approx. 1 hour). See where the world’s longest river explodes violently through a narrow cleft in the Rift Valley escarpment to plunge into a frothing pool 43m below. Your driver/guide will be waiting for you to transfer you back to the lodge.
You will then head to the lodge to check out and head for Kampala.
There will be a stopover at the Uganda equator where you will be able to take great pictures. You will arrive in the evening and our guide will drop you off in Kampala.
End of trip!!!
