Day 1: arrival, pick up and transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla national park
Welcome to Rwanda “The Land of a thousand Hills”, upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by a safari – driver guide of Petnah Africa Tours. He will give you a short safari briefing explaining to you what to expect on the safari, the transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla national park crossing over to Uganda via Cyanika Border. After clearing with the authorities at the border, you will drive through Kisoro district “the switizerland of Africa” with scenic views of rolling green terraced hills, proceed to Mgahinga Gorilla arriving in evening, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: mountain gorilla trekking and transfer back to Kigali
Wake up early for breakfast, meet your safari driver and head to the park’s headquarters (park offices) for mountain gorilla trekking experience the highlight of this safari as early as 07:00 am, you will join other trekkers for briefing session where you will be taken through the rules and regulations to follow while on this experience.
You be grouped into 8 people and trek into the jungle of Mgahinga searching for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 4-6 hours with 1 hour of being in the presence of mountain gorillas. The Nyakagezi gorilla family – the only habituated gorilla family in Mgahinga Gorilla national park has a history of being mobile (migrating to Congo and Rwanda), however for the recent years it has settled in Mgahinga.
In the period of one hour you are to spend in the presence of mountain gorillas, you will enjoy observing the behavior of the gorillas which is similar to humans, take pictures and watch baby gorillas playing around in the watch of their mothers and dominant silverback. After one hour, you will trek back to the park headquarters and proceed to our lodge for refreshing. Then checkout and transfer back to Arusha for drop off either at the airport or at the hotel in Kigali.
