Day 1: arrival, pick up and transfer to Bwindi

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by the representative of Petnah Africa Tours, he will give you briefing about what to expect on this safari then transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park on a journey of approximately 4-5 hours.

Along the way you will enjoy spectacular views of the rolling hills of Rwanda and the country side, you will connect to Uganda using either Katuna or Cyanika Borders, at the border, you will clear with the authorities and proceed to Bwindi impenetrable national park. Expect to arrive in Bwindi impenetrable national park in the evening, check into your lodge for dinner and overnight stay as you prepare for the next day’s adventure of encountering mountain gorillas.

Day 2: mountain gorilla trekking and transfer back to Kigali

Wake up early for breakfast, meet your guide – driver and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park for a mountain gorilla trekking experience. You will join fellow trekkers at the park’s headquarters (offices) for briefing session where you will be given information about tracking gorillas in the jungle of Bwindi impenetrable national park, you will be grouped into groups of 8 people, be assigned a gorilla group to trek and hire a porter in case you have a heavy bag.

With your packed lunch prepared at the lodge and drinking water, you will start the trek into the thick forests of Bwindi impenetrable national park looking for mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking takes approximately 30 minutes to 6 hours depending on the movement of the particular gorilla family you are trekking and where they spent the previous night. As you trek through the jungle of Bwindi, you will come across other primate species inhabiting in Bwindi such as chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys and several colorful bird species.

When you locate the gorilla family you are trekking, you will be amazing by their huge size and fur covered bodies, observe their amazing behavior and take as many pictures as possible as long as your flashlight for the camera or phone is off. After the most memorable and intriguing moment of being in the presence of mountain gorillas, you will trek back to your lodge for freshening up, have a drink or eat something. Then check out of your lodge and transfer back to Kigali. You will be dropped off either at the airport or at the hotel.
