10 Days Serengeti wildebeest migration safari is carefully tailored Tanzania safari to offer you high chances of the annual Great Wildebeest migration as it happens in the plains of Serengeti national park while at its peak and the spectacular River crossing happening in the northern Serengeti.
The Mara River crossing is the most spectacular and nerve racking episode of the Great annual wildebeest migration with the herds attempting to cross the Mara River which is the largest obstacle in the whole migration journey.
The Mara river crossing occurs in July – September/ October depending on the rains, the herds attempt to cross the crocodile infested river with millions of hooves tormenting the ground with a thunder like sound and dusty clouds. They congregate at the banks of the river before taking the plunge to reach the plains of Maasai Mara national reserve, the drama is brought about by the Nile crocodiles which feed on the crossing animals and some of them lose their lives.

DETAILED ITINERARY OF 10 DAYS SERENGETI WILDEBEEST MIGRATION SAFARI
Day 01: Arrival and transfer to Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our guide and after a briefing about the safari and what to expect, you will be transferred to your hotel in Arusha. You will spend the evening relaxing at the lodge, have dinner and stay overnight.

Day 02: Serengeti National Park (North)
After breakfast at the hotel, you will transfer to Serengeti national park departing at 7 am arriving in the park in time for lunch which you will have after checking into the lodge, when you enter in the park you will head to the northern region of the park. In the afternoon you will head to the plains of Serengeti, the park is famed for incredible wildlife, stunning views and the annual wildebeest migration with over 1.5 million wildebeests and hundred thousands of zebras and gazelles (Thomson and Grant’s). The annual Great wildebeest in Serengeti national park happens from July – October, during the course of the migration. You will witness calving season with more than 8,000 calves born on a daily before the 1,000 kilometers journey begins again and the actual survival of the fittest as the animals plunge through crocodile infested waters of Grumeti River and Mara River.
In addition to witnessing the annual wildebeest migration you spot predators such as lions, leopards, cheetahs, African wild dogs among others. later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 03: Serengeti North (Kogatende)
After breakfast, you will transfer to Kogatende area of Serengeti national park for viewing of the great migration River Crossing which starts in August which is the same period the mega herds settle into the area. Between August – October, witnessing of the great annual wildebeest migration is at its best with river crossing guaranteed every day. However there is no distinct movement as the herds tend to cross back and forth over the river as they follow the rains and the fresh green pastures. For wildlife photographers, the game viewing experience in the Kogatende area will have a chance to take great pictures and videos of the migration’s river crossing. Later, you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 04: Serengeti North (Kogatende)
After breakfast, you will go to the Mara area (Wagakuria area) for a full day game drive, the area is a home to array of wildlife and the key point for viewing the wildlife in this area is the Mara River offering you a chance to see the herds crossing the Mara River to the North on one day and back south a few days later.
Note: it can be very difficult to witness the river crossing and sometimes it is a matter of luck as a herd can be seen next to the river only to decide to cross a couple of days later. The North (Kogatende) area has a stunning landscape with kopjes, woodland, riverine vegetation and open plains which is similar to Masai Mara national reserve of Kenya. later head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 05 -07: Serengeti National Park (Central Seronera)
You will spend these days of the safari in Seronera region of Serengeti national park following the annual wildebeest migration on full day game drives.
After breakfast at the camp, you will embark on a drive to Central region of Serengeti national park. The central Serengeti lies in the heart of this oldest national park in Tanzania is the most popular region in the park, the region is popular for hosting large numbers of big cats and is one of the best place to witness the great annual migration which passes in the area in the period of April to June and October to December.
During the game drive you will follow the migration and its large herds of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles. You will also enjoy watching great herds of cape buffaloes, elephants, giraffes, elands, topis among others. As you follow the migrating herds, you will have picnic lunch set at one of the picnic sites in the area, after the sunset you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 08: Ngorongoro Crater Tour
After breakfast, you will exit Serengeti national park with packed lunch and head to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. This wonderful Tanzania wildlife destination is an extensive highland area along the eastern arm of the Rift Valley and a world renowned site for the Ngorongoro Crater – the 8th wonder in the world.
During the game drive on the crater floor you will enjoy watching array of animals including lions, wildebeests, leopards, cheetahs, elands, gazelles and many birds including the pink flamingoes at the shores of Lake Magadi. You will have picnic lunch and then proceed with the game drive exploring the areas around the crater and watching more animals and enjoying the scenic views of the landscape.

Day 09: Tarangire National Park
After breakfast, you will checkout of your lodge, saying farewells to Ngorongoro Conservation area heading to Tarangire national park – a quiet and lovely Tanzania wildlife safari destination famous for large herds of elephants and mini – wildlife migration.
Arrive in time for lunch which you will have at the lodge and in the afternoon you will go for a game drive, you will be treated to views of scenic of landscape dotted gigantic baobab trees and also enjoy watching many animals such as lions, elephants, elands, cape buffaloes, wildebeests, antelopes among others. after the sunset you will head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 10: Back to Arusha
After breakfast, you will checkout of your lodge and transfer back to Arusha for your drop off at Kilimanjaro International airport for your onward flight.
