This 10 days Uganda Safari begins with wild rhino tracking on foot in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, then head to Murchison Falls National Park – the largest, oldest and the best game park in Uganda, the park is also home to four of the Big Five and the most powerful waterfall in the world – Murchison Falls.
Continue to Kibale Forest, Africa’s capital of primates and home to 13 species of primates including over 1500 chimpanzee. You will have a chance to track one of the habituated chimpanzee families, then explore the Bigodi Village.
The next destination to visit is Queen Elizabeth National Park – the most popular wildlife safari destination in Uganda with over 600 bird species, 95 species of mammals and tree-climbing lions.
Finally head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – the best place to see the endangered mountain gorillas in the world, you will have a grand opportunity to track one of the main habituated gorilla families and spend a maximum of one hour in their presence.

Detailed Itinerary of 10 Days Uganda Safari
Day 1: Track rhinos in Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary and transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
To mark the start of your 10 Uganda Safari your tour driver guide will pick you up from Kampala or Entebbe as early 07:00 am and embark on a 5 hours’ drive northwest to Murchison Falls National Park. You will pass through lively towns, roadside markets and rural Uganda Villages.
You will make a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – the only place in Uganda where you can see wild rhinos, on this exciting experience you will trek rhinos on foot and get a close-up sight of them. Then have lunch at the nearby Kabalega Diner and continue to Murchison Falls National Park arriving in late afternoon.
At 3,893 square kilometers, Murchison Falls National Park is the largest park in Uganda boasting over 70 mammal species including four of the Big 5 and more than 470 bird species and spectacular scenery. The park is also home to the world’s strongest waterfall – The Murchison Falls.

Day 2: morning game drive and afternoon Boat Cruise
After an early breakfast, you will head out on a 3 to 4 hour morning game drive. You will explore the scenic savannah grasslands of the park’s northern section as you watch the beautiful sunrise. Lookout for giraffes, buffaloes, elephants, lions, hyenas, warthogs, hippos, antelopes, patas monkeys and baboons.
You will also see special birds like Pel’s Fishing owl, saddle-bellied stork, goliath heron, ground hornbill, grey crowned crane and great blue turaco among others. If you are lucky, you will catch a glimpse of the rare pre-historic – looking shoebill stork.
Return to the lodge for lunch and some time to rest. In the afternoon, you will take a thrilling 3 hour boat cruise on the Nile. Watch huge crocodiles in the waters and hippos grunting, see countess water birds. You will pause a little distance from the bottom of the falls where you will marvel at 50m wide Nile River thundering through a 8 m gorge before falling 45m below what has been termed as the devil’s cauldron. Return to the lodge for relaxation, dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Visit the Top of the Falls and Transfer to Kibale Forest
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast then drive to the top of Murchison Falls to see the world’s strongest waterfalls from a different perspective, after witnessing magical waterfalls, proceed on a very scenic drive of about 6 hours, south Kibale Forest National Park.
You will reach Fort Portal in time for lunch, Fort Portal is another scenic area of the country situated in shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon and is famous for its many tea plantations. From this lovely town, you will continue to Kibale Forest National Park.
Spend the evening at relaxation and head back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Community Walk
Chimpanzee trekking is a highlight of this Uganda Safari, you will have early breakfast at 6.30 am and transfer you to the Kanyanchu Visitor Center for briefing about chimpanzee trekking which starts promptly at 8 am.
After the briefing, you will head to the forest in search of man’s closest relative, the activity lasts about 2 to 5 hours and over the years have had a 95% success rate seeing some of the 1,500 individuals in Kibale Forest. The chimpanzees have been fully habituated and thus offer you an opportunity to draw quite close to them and take pictures. Watch them much on fruits, swinging in trees, socializing, patrolling, mating and making hooting calls which is an unforgettable experience that you will treasure forever.
You will spend one hour with the chimpanzees and take as many photos as you wish, then trek back to the park headquarters to meet your guide and return to the lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon after lunch, you will head to the Bigodi Community walk for an encounter with the local people, take part in several activities as making local brew and tasting it and learn more about rural life. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After a leisurely breakfast, you will checkout and embark on a journey further south heading to Queen Elizabeth National Park, it is a drive of 2 to 3 hours with incredible scenic view en-route. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge, have some rest and then set out on an afternoon game drive.
You will explore the impressive landscapes of the park filled with incredible diversity of flora and fauna, the park is home to 95 mammal species and over 600 bird species and you will have a chance to see some them.
After your first game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Game Drive in Kasenyi and Kazinga Channel Boat Cruise
Enjoy early breakfast and head to the Kasenyi Plains for morning game drive giving you a chance to see some of the impressive African big game species such as Elephant, Buffalo, Kob, Bushbuck, Hippo, Forest Hog, Warthog, Crocodile, hyena and leopards among others.
Return to the lodge for lunch and at 2 pm, you will transfer to Mweya Jetty for an afternoon boat cruise. A boat trip on the Kazinga Channel is a must do activity in Queen Elizabeth National Park offering you a chance to cruise just a few meters from hundreds of hippos and crocodiles in the waters and buffaloes and elephants lingering on the shoreline along with the waters and crocodiles.
After the boat cruise, you will do a short game drive along the channel track as you head back to the lodge, relax, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Track Tree-Climbing lions and travel to Bwindi
After a leisurely breakfast, you will check out of your lodge with your packed lunch and head to the Southern sector of the park on a game drive in search of rare tree-climbing lions who you will see resting on the fig trees.
After a short game drive, exit the park and continue south through rolling hills and traditional homesteads and enjoy panoramic views as you head to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Bwindi is one of Africa’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests with about 400 plant species.
Head to your lodge and spend the evening at relaxation, enjoy dinner and overnight as you prepare for gorilla trekking experience the next day.

Day 8: Gorilla Trekking and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Wake up early for breakfast and head to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking and how to properly conduct yourself in the forests of Bwindi and in the presence of mountain gorillas. Armed rangers and guides will lead you through the forests in search for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2-5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night.
When you locate the gorillas, you will spend one hour in their presence watching them go on with their life in the forest and take pictures. Return to the starting point where you will meet your guide and embark on a journey to Lake Bunyonyi with your packed lunch.
You will arrive in the late afternoon and go for a boat cruise exploring the numerous islands in the lake and learning about their history and amazing stories, you can also swim in the waters of the lake while marveling at the stunning scenery. Check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
Have a relaxed breakfast, checkout of the lodge and leave for Lake Mburo National Park. Have a lunch stop at the Igongo Cultural Centre in Mbarara and after then continue on your way to Lake Mburo National Park through the Sanga Gate.
Just outside the gate, you will come across some of the world-famous long-horned Ankole Cattle of the Bahima people that live in the area which is always a highlight and worth a few photos.
Lake Mburo National Park at a size of 260 square kilometers is a superb wetland and acacia savannah sanctuary famous for birding and is also a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance. With 13 other lakes in the area, Lake Mburo forms a 50 km-long wetland system liked by a swamp.
You will have an afternoon game drive as you head to your lodge, lookout for animals like the Zabra Plains (only found in Lake Mburo National Park), elands, buffaloes, Oribi, Defassa waterbucks, leopard, hippos, spotted hyenas, Topis and Banded Slendar and Dwarf Mongoose.
Head to your lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Game walk in Lake Mburo National Park and transfer Back to Kampala
After your early morning breakfast, you will go for a nature walk which is rated as one of the most interesting game walks in the country. During the walk you might see various species of primates, birds, antelopes like common eland, waterbucks, impalas, Topi among others and other animals like hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes, zebras and warthogs.
After the walk you will embark on a transfer back to Kampala which is about 4 to 5 hours, you will make a stop at Kayabwe Equator Crossing where you can stand with one leg in the Northern hemisphere and another in the southern hemisphere and take memorable pictures.
Continue your journey to Kampala where you guide will drop you off either at the hotel or at Entebbe International Airport for your departure flight.
